What are the pros and cons of showing your Facebook page link on your Fluther Profile?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) November 17th, 2010

Can you see any safety or privacy concerns or is it a good way to let Fluther users who wonder who you are in the real world or what you look like learn a bit more about you than you can post in your profile?

I should note that while I don’t go looking for online trouble, I run an online business so I am quite used to having some basic contact information out there in Cyberspace.

@rangerr Ha! Well, my posting my link won’t do much for you on that front. :-)

My Facebook is strictly for people I already know face-to-face, so I have no reason to share my FB profile with anyone on the net. Aside from anything else it has my full name on it.

I don’t post mine on my profile, but jellies seem to find me anyway. I have more Fluther people on FB than people I know face-to-face! Honestly, I love it… it’s a great way to get to know these lovely people better. :)

@downtide As does mine. Good point. Thanks.

@augustlan I’m not there yet, but I can easily see how that could come to be. Thanks.

If I had enough time to devote to it, and I liked FB enough (which I don’t), I would probably keep two profiles. One for RL friends and one for internet friends. I’m more inclined to share my Plurk (GingerLewis) and Twitter (lewisvl) with net friends. Feel free to add me there if you want to.

@downtide Ha! If I had time for Plurk or Twitter and liked them enough (which I don’t) I would definitely add you. :-)

Plurk is fun. Nearly as much fun as Fluther (and way better than Twitter).

Never tried it. I get addicted to social netwirks far too easily and it eats into time I need to spend on my business.
