How can I make a filter to automatically send certain emails to a folder in gmail?

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) January 11th, 2011

I want Gmail to send any emails from itunes to an itunes folder. I tried using a filter but it just makes a label on it. How do I actually send the emails to the folder when they are recieved?

You should be able to select “skip inbox” as one of the options when you’re creating a filter. This should automatically archive the messages, and if you have a specific folder titled “iTunes” it should send them there.

I did this a long time ago for all my Facebook notifications; I had to do a little looking around just now – I hope I didn’t skip a step!

To create a filter:

1. Go to Settings > Filters and click “Create a new filter.”
2. Enter the sender into the “From” field and click “Next Step.”
3. Check the “Apply the label” box and choose your iTunes folder from the menu.
4. Click “Create Filter.”

If the e-mails don’t always come from the same address, you can just enter the domain from which they are sent into the “From” field.
