There is still one brand of running shoes made in America. Which one is it?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) January 26th, 2011

Just when I thought China had the market on all running shoes sold in America, I see the show “How Things Are Made”. I was and I still am in shock to learn that just one brand of running shoes, New Balance, is still manufactured in the good old U.S.A. I believe this pertains just to a particular shoe model, 933, but I am not positive. Question: does New Balance produce other shoe models, other than the 933, in America? Now that you know that New Balance shoes are made in America, will your next pair of running shoes be New Balance, to support America?

I wear New Balance shoes and love them. Thery are really quality shoes and have helped my plantar fasciitis.

According to the company, 25% of their shoes are made in the US.

I’m with @crisw on this. They are really high quality shoes for my poor little screwed up feet, and I’m delighted that they’re made here. I didn’t know that…

So, how do you tell if the New Balance shoes you are purchasing are a pair of the 25% that were made in America?

@YoBob

The link I provided above gives that info. The US-made shoes are labeled as being made in the US.

@crisw personally I prefer the NB shoes that are made in England. Their factory was (well still is) just down the road from where I grew up as a kid and you could get shoes directly from there.
