What's a creative idea for a project?

Asked by MonstrousPeace (451points) May 10th, 2011

In Biology we’ve been instructed to create a project depicting the four cycles of nature (water cycle, carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, and phosphorus cycle). He said to make it creative and gave an example using flash. I want to make this project above and beyond, but I have hit a bit of a creative block. Some ideas I’ve run across are clay models, posters, videos, etc. Help me brainstorm something brilliant?

If you or your friends know how to use a video camera and do editing, you could make a short (8 to 10 minutes) film showing an example of each these processes. But it should be humorous. Use your friends as actors. The nerdier the better! Think about your favorite youtube videos.

Or you could make some type of a “feast” based on these element cycles. There are foods that contain each of these items that you could bring to class. Of course, you would be wearing a chef’s hat while discussing these processes and feeding your fellow students.

If you or one of your friends can play an instrument and/or sing. You could write a funny song that explains these processes and either you or the friend would actually sing the song (that you will write) while you are drawing or showing how it all works on a big easel with charts. Think back to the songs from Schoolhouse Rock like I’m Just a Bill

I would do the life cycle of a ball park hot dog. From being made from corn grown and eaten by a hog, sold at the ball park, half eaten, tossed in the garbage and taken to the dump to rot back into basic carbon compounds. Make it a Chicago style hot-dog if you want to add more food groups for a splashier production! ;)

Type “four cycles of nature” into your search box and see if you can get some ideas from that.

make a Goldberg-type machine that shows the cycles.
