What kind of script/program/CMS/etc. is needed to make a site like care.com, airbnb.com, schoolofeverything.com, fiverr.com?

Asked by katyp (1points) June 20th, 2011

I want to do a site with a similar concept of matching providers to customers based on categories and location. What programmer/developer company has experience in putting together these kinds of sites? How much would it cost to have a similar site made?

All the sites you posted are so different I don’t think you can use a CMS without being heavily modified. I would charge about 20K to even touch it if I was doing it from scratch.

The programming languages used on these websites are likely to be in this list I wrote a few days ago.

CMS’s are usually used on sites which offer pages and articles of content only. Sites like these are centered around forms and dynamic content, requiring a programmer to write custom code.
