Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, and even Hannibal come to mind. They were gruesome, but the intellectual strategy going on in the killers’ minds was intriguing.

Memento
Chinatown
LA Confidential
Silence Of The Lambs
The Maltese Falcon

More cerebral than action. Everyone has flaws. Even the bad guys have their good points.

Mildred Pierce and not the mini series. The 1946 movie.
@Brian1946 Yes! BEST. MOVIE. EVER!

The list is bloody endless, but seeing as though I haven’t the time, inclination or energy to compile one, here’s some right off the top of my head.
Rear Window
Strangers on a Train
Rope

Yeah, all Hitchcock thrillers…where better to begin.

Another vote for Memento down here. Memento had a neat idea for a story to begin with, but the way the director chose to tell the story was the real hook. Other than that, The Departed, Donnie Brasco, and Pulp Fiction are some of my favorite crime movies.

@Joker94 Pulp Fiction is an amazing movie!
Also, one that is coming out thatlooks interesting is Appollo 18.

Momento for sure! 16 Blocks, Inside Man, Fracture….there’s probably many more I can’t think of. I don’t have my list of movies here….I’ll answer again when I get home!
