If you want what it features then yes, although you could just buy a cheap lead to run from computer to TV with the same effect, and then you’re not restricted to iTunes media.

I bought one on a whim, and it’s really great! Especially if you jailbreak it and add nitrotv and firecore flashblack. It adds the ability to have non iTunes media players like plex, xbmc, and mplayer. Also vnc, last.fm, an Internet browser with flash, ssh, and 3rd party remote apps. But even if you don’t jailbreak, AirPlay alone is a feature worth the $99 price.

And there are other ways around the iTunes only content without jailbreaking. Such as the stream2me iPhone app that streams all media from your pc to your iPhone, which then an be streamed to your apple tv via AirPlay.

I love mine, the biggest caveat is that they’ve been out for a while now and might be seeing upgrades soon (then again it may be years before they upgrade—Apple is so secretive that there is really no way to know). There are new rumors that Apple is planning on launching a service that competes with Netflix in the near future.

Hmm… same CPU (ARM Cortex-A8), GPU (the same ARM Cortex-A8), RAM (256MB), and operating system (iOS 4.x) as your iPhone… it cannot play 1080p HD content… ni internal storage to speak of…

I would say it isn’t worth it, but that is just my opinion.

If you are really an apple fan then you can buy it, but think if the price is right or is it worth buying it.
