Contact a mod.

How are you being harrassed? I’ve flagged a few of your answers as personal attacks. If you feel you are being “harrassed” on a thread, you flag the responses you feel are “attacking” you.

spykenij's avatar

Yes, I have done so when I simply posted a comment not intended to piss anyone off and I GOT MY DAMN HEAD BIT OFF. Did you not see that she attacked me 1st? I am not gonna sit there and not defend myself. I have a right.

SpatzieLover's avatar

No, there is no need to defend. You flag it and forget it. The mods will take care of it. The OP politely asked you to keep your comments “positive”.

If you feel that someone is harassing you in Private Messages, use the Contact button above.

If you have gotten into it with someone in the threads, walk away.

Oh, dear, @spykenij , if you think that was a personal attack you haven’t been around here much, have you. That was really quite mild. If you don’t like what a user has to say, just ignore that user. It’s not like anyone is going to come to your house and beat you up. A real personal attack will be dealt with quickly and firmly by the mods.

augustlan's avatar

[mod says] At the moment, we don’t have a blocking feature. The correct thing to do if you feel personally attacked in a thread is to flag it. The mods will take a look, and if it really is a personal attack, it will be removed. (In this case, it was not a personal attack, but your response to it was.)

If you are being harassed via PMs, or someone is following you around in the threads making your life difficult and such, then you contact me, via PM. I take a look, and see what (if anything) needs to be done.

spykenij's avatar

I asked you to remove BOTH our nasty messages. How is it not a personal attack to say I am so ok with killing anything (very obviously implied)? Not cool. Bugs are bugs.

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

@spykenij some people get upset on certain questions around certain topics.

One of the responders above called me a “D*ckwad” two months ago when we were talking about one thing, last week she told me she lurved me.

I wouldn’t worry about it unless it happens on multiple questions about different things.

augustlan's avatar

@spykenij As I said, mods will take a look and decide whether or not to remove it. Saying you have a “cavalier attitude to killing small, defenseless creatures.” in response to your answer about gleefully killing bugs is not a personal attack.

JilltheTooth's avatar

@Imadethisupwithnoforethought : I might not have been so harsh if The Doctor had been your avatar, then! ;-)

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

@JilltheTooth oddly, in real life, I look just like Captain Jack.

chyna's avatar

^How nice when two jellies make up.

JilltheTooth's avatar

And @chyna , you were instrumental in that! You get lots of lurves, too!

spykenij's avatar

If sexual harassment is all about how someone perceives something, then how is it ok to basically call me a killer for smashing spiders? They were dead anyway.

augustlan's avatar

On Fluther, we have guidelines. The mods enforce them. It truly does not matter how you perceive it (though I’m sorry you’re taking it so hard). What matters is whether or not it violates our guidelines.

chyna's avatar

“I smashed 2 daddy long leg spiders that were stuck together, screwing today. To heck with spiders! Save the whole “Spiders are good; they eat other bugs.” That’s what frogs are for :) ” Doesn’t seem they were already dead.

JilltheTooth's avatar

@spykenij : You said something somebody didn’t like. She said something you didn’t like. Neither post was worthy of this kind of reaction. You’re reading waaaaay too much into this. I’ve been here over a year and seen people verbally eviscerate each other until the mods waded in and broke it up. You’ll need to thicken up your skin a bit if you’re going to stick around.

CWOTUS's avatar

Wait a minute… your beef was with [old broad who shall not be named]? Ye gods. That’s like an eighth-grader walking into a kindergarten class and complaining about being “bullied”. That [old broad who shall not be named] is one of the nicest people on this site! (Not that I’m comparing [old broad who shall not be named] to a kindergartner in anything but demeanor – and I mean that in the nicest way, as I’m sure she already knows. And likely would agree with.)

So she didn’t like something you said, and called you out on it. It’s what we do here. She didn’t “attack you”; she said you did a wicked thing – which seems to be true, according to your own statement – and she asked you to refrain from doing that. Pleasant as pleasant can be, as is her wont.

You were the one getting all hateful. And if you want to eat a spider to spite her (to spider?), then I’m sure she’d laugh louder and longer than anyone at the thought of you doing that “to get back at her”. Bon appetit!

Aethelflaed's avatar

@CWOTUS Ok, maybe it’s just me, but the phrasing ”[old broad who shall not be named]” keeps making me think of Voldemort aka He Who Shall Not Be Named. Which is hilarious.

CWOTUS's avatar

Lucky for you that Voldemort doesn’t have a Fluther account, @Aethelflaed, or you couldn’t name him, either.

spykenij's avatar

The spiders were stuck together – DEAD. I picked them up by a leg, dropped them and stepped on them. My whole point is that FROGS are much better for insects FOR ME.

JilltheTooth's avatar

Whoa, Dude, we’re way past the spiders. You need to move on.

spykenij's avatar

I didn’t create this to be knocked any further or whatever you want to call it. I don’t give a crap anymore; therefore, I am done with this post and the other. It is smoke.

KateTheGreat's avatar

Don’t take it as harassment.

The woman you claim that was bullying you is a huge lover of nature and one of my favorite ladies ever. She doesn’t take it too kindly whenever someone talks like that about animals, bugs, or other sorts of nature. Even if it sounds like harassment, it’s not. Looking back at it, it seems like you just fed the fire by saying those other things.

Just be chill. We don’t like disputes around here.

Jude's avatar

Who is it? I’ll beat ‘em up!

Bellatrix's avatar

She is the “old broad who shall not be named” @Jude!

@spykenij, you really can’t let things get to you so much. Hope you feel better after giving yourself a little time to get over this.

And @Imadethisupwithnoforethought, Captain Jack? Really? I am going to watch you more closely… dump the Dr, bring on the Captain.

dreamwolf's avatar

@spykenij I get personally attacked like every question. Even on happy questions. There are just smart asses here, grow some tough skin, as someone once told me.

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

I just wish women would want me for my mind

Bellatrix's avatar

I want your mind @Imadethisupwithnoforethought!! I just want it wrapped up in Captain Jack’s body :D (Is that so wrong…?)

I should explain… I thought Captain Jack Sparrow but then realised you probably mean Captain Jack Harkness… and I have to be honest and say, I am not fussy.. either will do.

syz's avatar

Much ado about nothing.

@spykenij I think your attitude toward insects seriously sucks. Note that I did not say that you seriously suck. One is a perfectly valid observation, the other a (rather mild) personal attack.

I resent all the references to frogs that are not reverent. I have a frog tattooed on my boob. I consider it sacred. There will be no frog bashing, please.

CWOTUS's avatar

I like both boobs and frogs, but I’m confused about which one I should hold sacred. I stand ready to hold either (or both) reverently.

Edit: I like some tattoos, too, so now I’m wondering if that’s one of the things to hold sacred. No matter. I’m prepared to hold all three if that is demanded. I only have two hands, of course, so I’ll find a way to do what must be done. But I’m not holding any frogs in my mouth just so we’re clear on that.

Okay, let’s get a few things straight here:

1. Calling you out for killing spiders is not a personal attack. I would like to add that I kill spiders on a daily basis, because they seem to have an appetite for my skin, which I do not appreciate (I’m doctoring yet another spider bite today). But if someone said they didn’t like that I kill spiders? Whatever. Now, if they called me a “fucking douchebag spider killer”, that would be modded. Learn the loopholes and get over it.

2. @Imadethisupwithnoforethought Dude, you look like Captain Jack? Are you free for lunch and… other things… this afternoon? I’ve got cookies and handcuffs. Or rum and a parrot… pick your poison. =0)

Imadethisupwithnoforethought's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate I don’t want to mislead people.

My hair is much shorter

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Imadethisupwithnoforethought That’s fine… as long as you wear the hat and walk funny.
