I'm curious how many Jellies actually have the iPhone 4S and how effective the voice assist REALLY is or isn't ?

Asked by Buttonstc (27605points) October 20th, 2011 from iPhone

My previous experiences with voice-assist technology have been less than stellar. For example, both Free 411 and Goog 411 are thoroughly confused, clunky and dumb as a rock at times.

To say that I’m unimpressed is putting it mildly indeed.

So, what’s your verdict on Apple’s handle on it ? Is it really “All That and a bag of chips” ?

Since I’m way overdue for an upgrade, I’m trying to decide if I should get this or save a few bucks on the lower price of the regular iPhone 4 and wait to see what shiny new improvements are offered for the iPhone 5 a few years down the line.

So, what say you ?

(I’m not at all interested in this ending up as an IOS vs. Android debate. Any attempt at that will be flagged.)

I’m fine with any reasoned opinioned comparisons of the various iterations of IOS one to the other. Hopefully you know what you’re talking about :)

It’s as you would expect. It’s not very efficient, confuses my words and doesn’t literally transliterate when you say a word it doesn’t recognize. So I can’t send texts in words the system won’t recognize. That being said it is in beta version at the moment so hopefully something becomes better.

Go for a regular iphone 4. The battery on the 4s is just terrible.

Thanks. I’m in the mood to save a few bucks so I think I will go for the regular 4.
