Does anyone have some suggestions about how to get the last of the candle wax out of a glass or ceramic candle holder?

Hot water does the trick (the holder in its totallity under hot water).

Use a blunt knife or spoon and scrape as much out as possible, then soak in hot water to remove the last traces.

Heh, I just lit every candle in my house last night. ;-)

I’ve tried that before and it didn’t really work…but then again, my hot water wasn’t all that hot. But it is now, so I’ll try it again.

I’ve done it by freezing the candle holder. After leaving it in the freezer, the wax will slide out.

Huh! Well, I have more than one so let the experiments begin! Thanks!

If the glass is tempered, pour boiling water over the holder with a paper towel underneath to catch the wax.

If the glass or ceramics crack, then they are not tempered. That’s not very helpful, I know.

There is one pair that I want to be really careful with….It’s a pair of tall Thanksgiving candle holder that I got for my Mom when I was in the 8th grade. No boiling water for them!

The other ones are those tacky citro candle thingers. The ceramic bowls that they came in just seem so handy though, that I don’t want to throw them away.

Do you have one of those clicker style fireplace log lighters? Flame the goo to run towards one side and drip it out onto a papertowel or something.

Here’s a tip to remember in the future to prevent this problem:

To prevent the wax from melting and sticking to the inside of a votive candle holder, pour a bit of water in the holder, then place the candle on top.

I learned this trick a few years back and I never have a problem with wax sticking to the holders. If there’s any wax that sticks, it’s usually just a small amount that can be easily scraped off.

Let us know what works, @Dutchess_III.

I will. As soon as I finishing working on the damn fence!

It’s work, but I’m having some success! The problem is, they’re tall, slender candles with over half of them filled with the wax….but I’m getting really good about screwing a steak knife in and twisting them out! Have to get the hot water as close to the bottom as I can…
