If you had the chance to place a curse on someone, would you?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) December 14th, 2011

If you were told by an old man that you had the ability to curse anyone, but it would last for 6 months, then fade away. Would you curse anyone, presuming you could curse as many people as you pleased? Would you curse a person that every time they ate something sweet it would taste like rotten fish or every vehicle they drove would suffer fatal mechanical trouble, etc? If there were some unknown side effect, negative to you, or someone you cared for, if you used it on the wrong person, which you had no way of knowing, would you be quick to use it, or employ caution?

I’d never use it… Except if I hate a person so much..Which I don’t..I think.

I would enjoy having that power. I’m not sure who I would use it on. But depending on the curse, it could be a lot of fun.

No, I would not want to be the author of misfortune for someone else.

I don’t need to. Anyone I would want to put a curse on (if I wanted such things) would already be cursed. I wouldn’t have to do anything. They will most certain suffer the consequences of their behavior.

I have actually wished, on occasion, that when someone has cut me off or rode my bumper before I could get over, that they would be pulled over for speeding. But no, I wouldn’t want to curse anyone as it is more than likely going to come back around and bite me on the butt.

Even if I were told by a young man or a middle-aged woman, I would refuse the offer. Life is filled with enough misery; why would I want to add to it?

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Yes, I would. I would take much pleasure in cursing two different men for their traumatizing offenses.

There’s only one person I’d consider that on and six months isn’t long enough to keep him from being a threat to other people.

@elbanditoroso But depending on the curse, it could be a lot of fun. YOU decide the curse, they could have bag gas (the toots), baldness, everything mechanical they touch breaks, etc. You could curse them to be robbed every 3rd payday for example.

@WillWorkForChocolate . . . i am so, so very sorry. make it go away now.

YARNLADY's avatar

I don’t believe in cursing people, but cursing circumstances, such as ”This person will never be able to hurt anyone again!”

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Blondesjon I’m afraid I can’t do that. It’s too much fun to watch you be followed around by a nine foot purple dinosaur! BTW, he’s right behind you again.

Ain’t you never heard of no Threefold Law? Assuming I could curse somebody, this would mean that, obviously, witchcraft exists. And so, that law would exist as well. And even if it didn’t, I’d have to assume that it did.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a nice person. The only reason I wouldn’t curse someone is that I wouldn’t want it to come back biting me on the posterior.

Cool question though. Adé doohay Dembella or however you spell thaaaaat…’‘wiggles fingers’’ XD

Never. On moral grounds.

But also, know that when you curse someone, the energy of the curse moves THROUGH you and outward, so you would actually be invoking some of that malevolent energy into yourself.
