Is it possible to read books from Kobo on a Kindle?

I thought I would ask Flutherites before I started googling. Has anyone ever tried to do this? I just bought a book and would like to have it on my Kindle. I have an older Kindle.

I’ve never tried it but apparently it’s possible, according to Kobo’s FAQ: It appears that Kobo books are available in PDF format and that works fine on a kindle.
