Is yoga your only exercise?

Asked by Milano (28points) April 10th, 2013

For yoga practitioners here, is yoga the only exercise (or whatever you call it, as some yogis think that yoga is more than just an exercise) you do? I kind of think that yoga and more vigorous exercises complement each other.

What is this “exercise” of which you speak?

Seriously, though, I don’t “exercise” verb, I “get exercise” noun. That is, if I feel like running about, I’ll take my son to the park and we’ll climb trees. Or something like that.

A workmate is a yoga instructor. She also jogs several miles a day. Overachiever.

No. I do a brief interval of weight work and then 45 minutes on the treadmill every other day. I’d like to do it daily but my joints no longer permit it.

Stretches are a component of any exercise program.

Nope, I do a lot of walking and goes to the gym three times a week.

Yoga may help you with breathing and relaxation but a good work out is still the best

I think yoga and aerobic workouts complement each other.
I’ve been a runner for decades and yoga is good for that.
The running is good for breathing and stamina.
