I don’t see any commercial links. Describe exactly what links you are seeing. Post screenshots, if you can.

If they are links that aren’t part of the question or answers, and are simply advertisements like this, then the most likely cause is Futher, as ads are served to people who are not logged in. This helps keep us solvent. Unless of course you were logged in (double check this). If you were, then I don’t know what happened, as it is not Fluther doing it.

If they were links within the questions or answers, and those links give you ads when you hover over them, then that is not Fluther, and could be adware. What web browser are you using? I’ve removed things like this from my own computer, and I could help you, if I knew more about the problem.

Are you encountering hyperlinks? Have you recently used a website to purchase anything? Do you think it is virus?

Run a adware remover like THIS.

It is most likely not a virus. If it is malware, it is most likely an unauthorized browser extension or add-on.

Sounds like text enhance malware. Try running anti-malware software like this one from Malwarebytes.

Definitely not coming from our end, so it’s malware. I agree with @glacial, you need to run Malwarebytes.

If you are using Google Chrome, you can go to menu>tools>extensions and delete everything there that you don’t recognize.
I also recommend using an adware remover.

I see only the question and the answers.
Perhaps Jessie (the dog) is out to get you.

It’s your computer. Kill that nonsense now. You don’t know what else it’s grabbing. (keylogging, passwords, girl friends’ phone numbers,...)
Try to think when it started and which site you visited.

It’s your computer. It is punishing you for striking that delete key so hard and overusing the CAPLOCK key.

My mom had a similar thing happen that was actually browser related. Some site told her she needed to install a Firefox extension to view a video and she happily installed it. But it totally hosed her browser. She had complained that sites (mine included) had triggered Ghostery to connect to a weird URL. But I didn’t put things together until I actually saw what it was doing.

She basically fell for something I just saw the other day.

These install flash/other fakes are all over the internet and will fuck your computer. SERIOUSLY… IF YOU ARE ASKED TO INSTALL OR UPGRADE FLASH GO TO www.adobe.com for it. Never the prompts from sites.

In the screenshot above they use different words but looks a lot like the official Flash installer. I’m seeing more and more of people getting hosed by this. While it is great for me since I am paid to fix this shit I would be totally happy if it didn’t happen to you.

I had the same thing happen to me a while back. I was using Firefox and thought it had something to do with that. So I switched to Safari and the problem went away. Now when I go back to Firefox the problem is no longer there but I am still using Safari because it seems to do everything I want it to do.

@johnpowell

Your Mom is indeed fortunate to have you for a son :)

I wish I had son like that :)

@Buttonstc :: Not all that lucky. The indecent above happened around a month ago and happened again a few days ago. I have told her tech support is no longer free unless she switches to OS X (which she hates). I gave her my old computer that is a PC put together from Newegg but with some hacks runs OS X great. It was a mothers day present and I had put Windows on it.

So now the hammer is down. I can install OS X and free support. Or fix Windows for 50 bucks a hour.

She is going with OS X.

Ha ha. Good for you. If I weren’t already using OSX I’d switch to it in a heartbeat, no coercion necessary :)
