Chemical abortion?

Asked by ehogan1 (11points) June 9th, 2013

Swallowed 5 misoprostol pills and insterted 5 vaginally at the same time. After 20 mins, I started vomiting. Does anyone know if these pills will still be effective?

there should be a medical or nurse hotline you can call locally in your town/city. If not, it’s probably worth the long distance to call one in the next largest town over. Call right away and all the best to you.

I have called the office I went to and the woman who answered the phone wasnt even a nurse. She told me she had to follow strict guidelines on answering “emergency” questions and thats as far as she could help me. I have to call back on a weekday to speak to an employee about my problem. :/ calling a different office is a good idea though. thanks for your thoughts.

Any luck?
I really don’t know much about that type of abortion. My sister went that route a few years ago and I don’t recall her vomiting at all.
I hope you’re able to get ahold of somebody and not have to wait until tomorrow.
Keep us posted, ok?

if you ingest something and vomit it’s pretty good at making it ineffective.

Oh dear I’m so sorry…

Wish I had something better to say. But yes, try calling some different offices or a hotline. If it gets too serious I would also consider going to the ER if you think you’re in any danger.

Best wishes to you.

@XOIIO Good point.
I’m wondering though, since she also inserted them vaginally, maybe they’ll still work well enough?

@Katniss Beats me, I’ve never even heard of something you take both orally and otherwise.

I am hoping that since I did insert more through vaginally that it will still work correctly. Except the fact that this is my second time trying the pill method. I was 5 weeks pregnant and did the same method a week ago. I went to my follow up appointment and they informed me that the abortion was not succcessful and that the pills had been ineffective. I refuse to go through the procedure, so I am trying to take the pills again this time hoping for a better outcome. Unfortunately if I go back for my next appointment on thursday and it didnt work again, I will have to go through with surgical procedure. One of the many symptoms of misoprostol is nausea, so I’m not worried about the vomiting, just worried about the effectiveness of the pills and how quickly they may or may not have dissolved in my stomach. Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

Can’t they page a doctor for you? That’s ridiculous. My assumption is you will just have to wait and see if it works. But, I am not a doctor. How long after swallowing the pills did you start puking? Did you take the pills with food? I think if you take them on an empty stomach and you threw up over a half hour after taking the pills, you might have the meds in you ok. If you ate with the pills, you might need a good two hours after to be in the clear. Everyone says gettingbthe medical procedure done is not bad at all. Deni just had one recently if you wind up having to do that you could message her. Or, you can look at her Q’s. She wrote about it.

I googled Misoprostol and found it is used in conjunction with Mifepristone to induce miscarriage. Misoprostol is used for stomach issues, with warnings not to use if the patient is pregnant. Mifepristone is the RU-486. Probably better to talk with the dostor pretty quick as this type of abortion is only for the first 7 weeks.

I don’t know how to comment, go and seek medical help at a doctor. Good luck.
