Try looking them up on http://CharityNavigator.com or try the Better Business Bureau’s website: http://welcome.bbb.org

The office of the Secretary of State in the state where the corporation is domiciled will have that information on file. Many states have made this information accessible on line.

The state where the company operates its home office, which is not necessarily where the corporation is chartered, will also have an annual report (not a financial report, just a one or two page document) on file and might be available on-line.

If there’s a specific organization you’re trying to find information about, we might be able to help you if you give us the name.

http://www.idealist.org – one of the best non-prof sites around. also, check out “koya consulting” out of massachusetts, they deal directly with non-prof executive placement: http://www.koyaconsulting.com

The Foundation Center’s 990 finder turns out to be the best way to do this:

Thanks for the tips. -R
