How would I remove soap scum off dark gray marble tiles in the shower?

Asked by Aster (20023points) March 31st, 2014

Is it impossible? These are not those shiny , slick marble tiles. Those would be simple. They are charcoal colored, not smooth and a special kind of marble I hope I never see again. How do I get the soap film off them? TIA!

How about the Scrubbing Bubbles?

You want to use a cleaner specifically for use on marble and natural stone, otherwise you’ll etch the stone. Most typical spray on cleaners are acid based, and will etch the marble over time.

There are several brands of soap scum cleaners specifically formulated to be safe on natural stone. Both MarbleLife & DuPont have spray type cleaners made for this type of application. After you clean the marble it’d be wisest to use a polish (Simple Green has a good stone polish that’s inexpensive) to prevent any future scum build up.

@LornaLove Well…house cleaning is sure not it. lol

I too agree with @LornaLove . A paste of baking soda and water tends to be very effective on soap scum. Bar Keeper’s Friend is also very effective on both soap scum and mineral deposits.

I am trying a baking soda paste!! Thanks so much!! And @Coloma I had the house cleaned yesterday by my two maids, they are fabulous, but even they can’t get the soap scum off. And Merry Maids won’t come out here just for a shower. LOL
