Have we seen any benefit from embryonic stem cell research?

Asked by RealEyesRealizeRealLies (30954points) November 3rd, 2014

I think to remember a lot of controversy and hopeful promises made a while back about the potential of embryonic stem cell research. Looking back, it seems fluther hasn’t discussed this much since 2011 here, almost four years ago. And another thread here from early 2009.

Is embryonic stem cell research still going on? Has adult stem cell research provided any better solutions? Did chord blood research settle the controversy? Does anyone still think that all stem cell research is the same, with no differences between adult and embryonic methods?

I don’t know. I’m asking. What do you know, or think about it. It used to be such a topic, especially around election years.

It is well past my bedtime, so I’ll be back later for further discussion.
