If you have seen the movie "Room" can you please tell me what occurred in the first ten minutes?

Asked by jca (36062points) February 6th, 2016

Last night I went to see the movie “Room” with two friends. The one that made the plans made a mistake with the start time and we missed the first ten minutes. It would have impossible to wait to see it at the next showing or to go elsewhere, so we had little choice but to head in and see it late.

I hate that and a movie like this, the first ten minutes probably had something insightful.

Have you seen “Room” and if so, can you either tell me what occurred in the first ten minutes or pm it to me?

BTW, it was a great movie. Gripping, moving, insightful, all good things and I can see why it’s up for a bunch of awards and has already won a bunch of awards.

I haven’t seen the film but I just wanted to say that I loved the book

Have never seen that movie, but I guess it involves Tommy Wiseau being wacky.

I saw it twice; my favorite movie of the year. As I recall, it shows Jack getting up and going around the room saying hello to the various objects. Then the Mom wakes up and they start the day’s routine.

@janbb : Thanks for the helpful response. We arrived 20 minutes late and the ticket taker said that we missed 9 minutes of the movie. I remember the boy saying hello to the items. Was there any scene before that?

I’ve read the book (although I didn’t realise they’d made it into a film until I read @janbb‘s post), and missing the first 20 minutes would have to mess up this story. Although in the book you don’t know why they are there at first.

I saw the film won awards and have wanted to see it. Now I know it’s based on that book, I really want to see it.

@Earthbound_Misfit she missed the first 10 which wouldn’t be terrible. Great, great movie and Emma Donoghue wrote the screenplay.
