How do you delete a user off of a macbook?

I am going to college and I would like to delete the user account that my family had been using along w/ all the files on it. I am using MacOSX

Open System Preferences.
Click Accounts.
Click on the account in the left-hand panel.
Click the minus sign toward the bottom of the window.
Select “Delete the home folder.”
Hit OK.
