Looks a bit shabby to me.

My daughter lives like this in Houston . Not for me; I’m a house on acreage type but it’s gorgeous inside and they carry your groceries into the condo for you and unpack them. It has covered parking and lots of floods.

Did you view the video? The full video on the bottom?
I wouldn’t feel comfortable living like that while the rest of the world is starving and barely making a living.
It seems scary as what happens if there is a fire ?
Would helicopters pick them up?
I can’t see anyone living there 24/7 so I bet most are gone most of the time travelling etc

I don’t resent others good luck or the money they earn, if that’s what they want, they should go for it.

Inspired_2write's avatar

@KNOWITALL It seem too much over the top, that’s all.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Inspired_2write I mean, some people are born into it, they don’t know any different, I’d assume.

Inspired_2write's avatar

@KNOWITALL
Don’t you think that there is a problem of them “not knowing any different”?
There comes a time in ones life that they grow up out of the bubble of the life that they grew up in and see the World as it is..out of balance.
Living in those huge towers makes them a target if there ever was a war.
Not safe at all.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Inspired_2write It’s really not my place to judge, they can do whatever they want.

I know a few rich folks and they do charities, events, all kinds of things, then go back to their McMansions and feel zero guilt and raise their children the same exact way.

We all have our own version of the world, and you can’t force anyone to feel anything like you do, do anything, change themselves or be open to new experiences. No need to hate on people who just are who they are, right?

Inspired_2write's avatar

@KNOWITALL
Lets be clear on one thing here.I don’t hate anyone, I just try to understand their stance in life especially in these hard times for many.
I have friends that give money to charities and then are done with just that, then they go off and buy some expensive toy to lesson there guilt.
I suppose some are limited in how they give and how much time or effort to help and that is there right to determine as that is all that they have to give at this time.
I am not proposing otherwise anyone’s decision but merely trying to gain more insight as to why the unbalances and the reasoning that may go through there minds.
I like researching behavior and the why of things, that is all.
Thanks for replying and for your input.

It looks like a holiday destination rather than a place to live. I would like to try it out for a couple of weeks or a month but that would be long enough. My own flat is a much more modest affair, but I am comfortable in it and have everything I want.

The hotel rooms are pretty reasonable for a resort/spa: $400 a night. And it would be a nice pied a Terre for Miami, if one was inclined to go to Florida.

It looks sick as fuck. I come from a well-off family though now that I’m on my own I personally don’t have much money to my name and have a roommate to help pay the rent. So I’m ambivalent about how “the rich” live and spend their money. Mostly I think this kind of “comfort” is fine as long as they’re not being stupid about it (like keeping exotic animals as pets or using too much water in a drought, etc.) I’ve stayed in some nice-ass hotels and would easily recommend them.

The setup clearly is designed for those confusing vulgar excess with supposed class. Lusting over such decadence is the reliable mistake marking the nouveau rich and those of us believing refinement and character marketable acquisitions. It reeks of the style of thinking distinguishing our commander in chief.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@stan Money doesnt buy class or intelligence, exactly.

We actually had a Q about how much you’d need saved before it was enough. Interesting posts.

I don’t resent anyone for the way they choose to spend their money. I would like a little of it, but I can’t resent them.

In residences like that, for the very wealthy, the type of person who owns that has several homes. So they spend a month in Miami, a few weeks in So Cal, some time in NYC, maybe winter break in the Alps. I have wealthy people in my family, but I think to have a penthouse in the link, those people are super-wealthy. The ones in my family will have a house worth a few mil. In the ones in the link, that’s mega.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

^^^^ what she said. Some people gots money. It’s not my place to tell them how to spend it.

elbanditoroso's avatar

None of your damned business.

You wouldn’t want people who live there evaluating and assessing where you live. It’s not your place – in fact it is simply rude – to assess and criticize how they choose to live.

anniereborn's avatar

I would sure love to vacation there as long as I wasn’t above the 5th floor. That kind of building makes me feel claustrophobic.

No way I would want to live in a place like that, even if I was rich.

All money does is make you more of who you already are. It allows you the freedom to pursue your interests.

If you have always had it then it’s harder to put the substance of it into the right perspective. That can be a major handicap for some.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I didn’t last through the whole video but people can do whatever they want wit their money.

raum's avatar

Well hello there, stranger.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

“You picked a fine time to leave us Lucille…with 400 children who crap in the field…”

Sagacious's avatar

That is not what I wish for. At all. I like where I live just fine. I don’t like big buildings nor high places. I don’t like to dress either. That place is not that far from where I live. I would not buy anything on a Miami beach…....expensive or otherwise. I was curious as to a monthly recurring charge…...........it would probably make me faint. :)
