Let the animal eat.
Reproducing the plant seems, to me, easier than the animal (look at pandas in captivity).

Maybe give the animal some other food. Depends on the situation. Most likely just let the animal eat the plant.

Leave them alone, don’t disturb the natural order of things.

I guess if I was a liberal I’d try to tell the animal about my feelings. Since I’m not, I’d chuckle at the irony and walk away. Might snap a pic before leaving.

@seawulf575 That picture will be hard evidence that you happened across an endangered species under duress and did nothing but take a picture. The next thing you will know a black hood will be secured over your head, you will hear voices in another language you don’t understand and whisked away to a distant place never to be heard from again.

@Vignette Promise? What an adventure I will have!

BTW, what if it is something like a venus flytrap eating a rare bug? Does the same question apply?

Favor the critter. Best not upset the natural order of things.

The plant would be favored if the animal eating it were invasive.

I’d ask someone with more knowledge than me about the situation. It would depend on the animal and the plant, what happens when the animal eats the plant (many plants propagate by having their fruit eaten and pooped out elsewhere), how endangered each is, etc.

I would fail to recognize either as endangered and pimp indifferently down the road.
