Who or what causes the constant synchronicities with TV commercials and shows?

Asked by Pssssss1222 (105points) March 3rd, 2022 from iPhone

What or who causes the constant coincidence of words and thoughts with TV shows and commercials? I give you examples: I say something (a certain word or sentence) and the same thing is said in a TV commercial right after I say it. My mother saw a cream in a magazine tonight and told us that she had seen it, and immediately after she said it in a TV commercial, the same thing was said about a cream. I think of saying something the day before and the next day they give a show that involves the same topic or the same thing I thought about, and this show was filmed 3 months ago and now it’s being broadcast for the first time, which makes it impossible for me to be heard it before from there. What or who is causing all this and are we able to stop it in some way or are we just like some dolls in the hands of something and it plays with us and we are unable to stop it. Do you think that if we start experiencing such things, we should not ignore them, but start researching them and also stand up against them, because this is a serious and real problem that has inevitably happened to you at least once but ignored him and ignored him? Do you think we are able to deal with the nature of this problem and understand why it is happening to us and whether we can stop it?

I’ve never noticed it, but think it’s coincidence. Also, people talk about what’s topical and so do commercials. Or I suppose it could be that space aliens or Big Brother has planted microphones in your house in particular.

Hard to say for sure, but what you’re describing sounds a lot like security problems related to audio assistant devices like Alexa & Siri – as well as voice to text apps on many smart phones.

Basically these AI powered features can be activated either accidentally or by design, and then gather information from your private conversations to target you with advertising or programmed entertainment. It amounts to high tech eavesdropping on a commercial scale, and the problem has been known for at least 2 years :

Even if you don’t have Siri or Alexa speakers, this kind of “audio data harvesting” can still happen through the Cortana virtual assistant on laptops or worstations running Microsoft, or on some newer smart TVs .

I don’t have any audio assistant devices in my home, but I occasionally do the “OK, Google” to do a search on my phone.

I was at my neighbors’ house some time in 2021. We were talking about Google’s audio assistant; we experimented with the usual “OK Google, this!” and “Hey Google, that!”.

I then spoke into my phone and Google responded simultaneously on my phone and on my neighbors’ speakers. This surprised us all. I then said, “Hey, Google, do you recognize my voice?”
Google’s reply was a bit surprising.
“Yes I do. Hello, (Name).”
I then asked, “Google, do you know where I live?”
“Yes, (Name). You live next door at (1234 Streetname, City, State, Zip.”

Coincidences.

Our minds are funny things.

You are talking about a very common perception flaw. It is not a real pattern.
