Do you think soup should go in circular Tupperware or square Tupperware?

Asked by SergeantQueen (12874points) March 6th, 2022

To me soup is circle shaped. So it should go in a circular Tupperware

What a silly question.
It goes into a ziploc bag, obviously.

I have a bunch of these and all soup goes in them. They are the best food storage I’ve ever come across, and if you’re feeling lazy, you can even eat your soup out of them.

Round, Spoons can’t get the last bit out of a square container.

I catch the drift, @SergeantQueen and agree with your conclusion (round) – but for different reasons:

The letter S is curvy and slinky, not a single line – which makes a point for a circle.

Same with O – it is a circle right there

Similar with U—the based of the U is rounded. Again, suggestive of a circle.

And the P – well, there is a straight line, but the curvature of the upper portion also suggests a round, not a linear shape.

For all these reasons – Circular tupperware.

Round just feels more natural. Stock pots are round. Ladles are round. Soup bowls are round. Thermos are round. Cans of soup are round. Of course the Tupperware should be round.

Circular, but I’m not against putting it in a square container.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

I usually leave my soup in the pot that it was cooked in. saves time and trouble washing and rinsing a bowl. I also eat out of the pot while still warm.

JLeslie's avatar

I leave a lot of things in the pot too. Not just soup; but also, rice, pasta, really almost anything if I think I’ll eat it within a day.

Whatever fits !

SnipSnip's avatar

I really prefer a triangular container.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Easier cleaning without corners.

filmfann's avatar

Circular. Square is for salads.

kritiper's avatar

Square. It’s easier to pour from out of a corner. Keep your salad in the round one(s).
And the square ones fit more practically into the refrigerator.

@SergeantQueen My answer is code for “silly question.”

SergeantQueen's avatar

@SnipSnip That’s the point!!

cookieman's avatar

There are no points on round Tupperware. So, there is no point.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

They had a triangle shaped container for putting individual slices of pie in storage.

Dutchess_III's avatar

The only reason people are saying “round” is because we eat soup in bowls.

Why do we have round pizzas and square pizza boxes?

raum's avatar

@RedDeerGuy1 Production costs. It’s easier (and cheaper) to make a square box.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@raum Thanks. What about square pizzas? Some places have them, but why not all? Wouldn’t it be cheaper for square pizzas? To go with the square box?

raum's avatar

@RedDeerGuy1 There are definitely square pizzas. Usually deep dish that are squished into a pan. But it makes sense to have a round thin crust pizza. Because it starts off as a ball of dough. :)

elbanditoroso's avatar

There is pizza chain here – Little Caesar’s – crappy pizza but really cheap. Square pizza is there ‘trademark’ product.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@elbanditoroso I like Little Caesar’s crazy bread and crazy sauce and chicken wings. 30 years ago they had excellent pizza

zenvelo's avatar

To be confounding, Wendy’s serves square hamburger patties on round buns. They can use grill space more efficently using square patties

SnipSnip's avatar

@elbanditoroso 30 years ago you got two pizza’s from Little Caesar’s and they were square. It was a ton of pizza for almost nothing. I bought it very often to take for our Youth Group on Sunday nights.

RocketGuy's avatar

Round – easier to stir thoroughly when heating.

raum's avatar

@RocketGuy I like that rationale.

Patty_Melt's avatar

They were round long before boxes, so it was simple habit at first. However, round in a square box is less pizza, but looks big when they hand it over.
That makes it seem worth the money.
