Free online games like Sims?

Well, not so much like sims. Theres a game on facebook called yoville. If you don’t know what it is, you create a character that looks like you, then you can walk around town with other people and buy upgrades for your house and different clothes and stuff. I guess its like an interactive chatroom. Does anyone know of a game similar like this that is free that isn’t run off of facebook?
