if you like a muskier scent, try Stella by Stella McCartney--I LOVE it

rosewater -- subtler than oil. get lots of samples from the department store b/c different fragrances smell different depending on the person.

not sure where you live...or what your budget is; but, the monks outside florence have the greatest scents and combos. if you live in sf, you can get it alabaster and nyc has a store that is run by folks for them. it is costly but a m a z i n g... http://www.italian.it/santamarianovella/smnuk.htm

I've been wondering the same thing. Going into perfume shops can be difficult because once smell a couple, you're nose is done. I found this cool website Aedes.com - they sell incredibly expensive fancy french perfumes, but you can order fragance samples and you only pay for shipping and handling. There's a space in the order form for you to tell them which ones you want to sample. they say 5 different choices, but they threw in 2 extra.

My advice is don't just look at perfume - try men's after shave. Givenchy Gentlemen was recommended to me by a hairdresser years ago and I still get compliments.

I wear Aqua Di Gio. It's a very light, cool scent--nothing too overwhelming but still noticeable
