Fashion feedback?

Asked by acebamboo77 (720points) January 13th, 2009

my grad photos are coming up in 2 weeks. i have to wear a collar blouse (or other colored garment) under the gown.
Now, I am not a White blouse kind of person. My school colors are Teal and Silver. Would it be acceptable to wear a dark purple collar?

Wear what you want, its your grad photo. Depending on the color of the gown I’d say, “Go for it”. In the whole scheme of things it’s not that big of deal

the gown is what color? teal?

Mtl_zack's avatar

If the gown is teal, wear fuchsia or soft pink. If it’s white, wear teal (if you are that proud of your school), and if it’s black, wear dark blue.

actually i vote for dark purple whether the gown is teal, white, or black.

but if it’s silver…

@lacerbabe- Have we Yanks corrupted you? You wrote color?

Purple is a fantastic graduation color, it’s representation is that of royalty.

Teal gown with a dark purple shirt would look very nice.

I like the dark purple idea as well, as long as it’s a rich saturated purple. Not faded in the least.

^^ Yes, at least equal intensity as the gown.

For a graduation photo, I’d like to go with something timeless.
Which is why I’d be hesitant to go with purple.
It’s such a trendy colour right now.
Did you like purple…say, two years ago?

Then again, a dark purple would go quite nicely with teal…

The gown is Black, sorry I forgot to mention that!

@astrochuck – To be completely honest the color vs colour isn’t really made important (or atleast in any school I’ve gone to). They accept either.

@Nimis – The color of the blouse is not important to me, so long as it is not white. The purple chosen is simply because I don’t have a whole lot of collared shirts of a color that would look good with teal and silver.

Is that picture of you? Because if it is, you’d look great in deep purples or blues, red, burgundy, forest green, .... There’s a whole lot you could get away with.

acebamboo77's avatar

yes, cyndyh, that is my face.

Then don’t sweat it. You’ll look great anyway. Maybe a deep green just to offset the teal. Those deep colors will look good with your dark hair.

Since the gown is black, I’d nix the dark purple idea. The colors are too close to one another, and may look kind of muddy in the pics. If the gown is black, where would the school colors even be shown in the pic? That opens up new possibilities. Go with a brighter, jewel toned color (emerald green would be fabulous) to provide some contrast.

That is the exact shade of green I had in mind! If you can’t match it though, a bright dark purple (if you can imagine) would look just fine with that. Otherwise, I’d probably just go with the damn white shirt. Very little of it will show anyway. Let us know what you end up with, ok?

yeah.. thats what i was thinking, a rich purple
