What do you think of this quote by Dick Cheney?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) January 14th, 2009

While perusing a Newsweek article about the unprecedented power given to vice president Dick Cheney, I came across this quote: “If I had advice to give it would be, before you start to implement your campaign rhetoric, you need to sit down and find out precisely what it is we did and how we did it, because it is going to be vital to keeping the nation safe and secure in the years ahead.” He was referring to how he and Bush have managed to keep our country safe from terrorist activity since 9/11. Any thoughts?

Just that Cheney is likely the Anti-Christ.
The hubris of both Bush and Cheney is so thick I dont think I have a knife sharp enough to cut through it.

The reference is specifically targeting the Bush administration position on torture.

My first thought upon reading that quote was exactly what uberbatman wrote above.

I can not give any credit to Dick Cheney for anything. Bush and Cheney are probably the two people who gained the most from the war in Iraq.

Obama responded to that in an interview with George Stephonuffagus. Basically he completely negated it by speaking to it generally in that “we would be silly not to look at what is in place before making changes”. He then went on to shoot down Cheney for other things such as waterboarding, almost as if to say don’t be surprised.

I don’t think bush/chaney can any more take credit for the lack of terrorist activity on us soil than the fact the sun still rises and sets.
