Have you ever cooked pasta in a microwave?

Asked by miasmom (3495points) January 22nd, 2009 from iPhone

My daughter is just getting to chunkier solids and I bought some tiny star pasta that I want to add to her food. I don’t want to cook the whole bag, just a tiny bit, like 1/4 cup of pasta. Have you ever tried this in the microwave? And how much water/time did you use? It might just come down to experimenting for me.

I’ve boiled water in the microwave, then added pasta once it came out. I did enough water to decently cover the pasta, probably 1 cup water to 1/4 cup pasta. Microwave water 90 – 120 seconds. Add pasta. Wait 5 or 6 minutes. Drain pasta. I make sure to do it in something that holds heat well and cover it after adding the pasta.

either that or put your pasta in a bowl and pour boiling water on top enough to cover it. microwave till soft. cant give you and exact time to microwave for as all pasta has different cooking times but its mainly about 3–5 mins. good luck!

I don’t belive in microwaves. Scientist know how they work microwaves agitate water molecules creating friction (heat) but they don’t know why that happens.

lurve for letting me vent
