Do you know a music in player for a Mac that doesn't copy the mp3 files from your external harddrive to the local drive?

everytime I drag my mp3s (on my external HD) to itunes, it creates copies of it in the Music directory… it defeats the purpose of putting it on the external HD.

iTunes—> Preferences—> Advanced

Change the settings in there. It should be fairly obvious.

As johnpowell said above. Also, you can set the iTunes Library location to be on your external drive – that way you could leave the “copy to library” option enabled (I prefer iTunes keep my music files organized).
