Is there a better final scene?

Asked by whackyrusty (763points) February 13th, 2009

…than the one in Luc Besson’s Le Grand Bleu (The Big Blue)

It’s such a beautiful and haunting end to the film. I don’t want to describe it in case there are any folks that haven’t seen it. For those that have and want a recap, here’s a video.

What are your favourite final scenes?

My husband’s (the movie buff) favorites:

Paths of Glory (Huge)
The last shot of Queen Christina (raises a good historical movie to a great film)
Dr. Strangelove (we both vote for this one)
La Strada
Solaris (the original Russian version—incredibly depressing, but great ending)

@AC Yes!

silence of the lambs

Nothing too deep, but great anyway:

The Sixth Sense
and I’ll second Memento and The Blair Witch Project.

I think the ending for Repulsion is very striking.
