New kid on the block?

Asked by wundayatta (58722points) February 15th, 2009

It’s a metaphor, of course. Think of a time when you were new to…. whatever. How’d it go? What happened? What did you learn?

I think Donnie was the cutest but Joey was cute too.

Over the last two and a half years I have perpetually been the new kid on the block. What have I learned? That people are pretty much the same wherever you go. The solid mid-western values I’ve heard lauded so many times look a lot like my west coast values. The keeping up with the Jones’s attitude so often attributed to So Cal is alive and well in the center of our country.

I’ve also learned that people are going to like me or not, more often they will like me, but either way I have to be myself, and it isn’t worth trying to change anyone’s opinion of me. I’ve also learned that my happiness is up to me and with the right attitude I can be happy pretty much anywhere.

@buster: I know you’re mocking them, but that made my day.

Right now, I’m the new kid on the Moderator block. Still learning something new every day… be patient with me, please :)
