What are you looking for? The iPod touch is a lot different from the Shuffle.

ipod shuffle is the best one if you do not have time to meddle with your ipod…..especially while traveling, jogging etc.

It depends on your needs. If you want a device that can sporadically (or more often) connect to the Internet, but is fundamentally a media player, I recommend the iPod Touch. It is what I have. Wifi connectivity is great, it works perfect at my and my friend’s homes and I even caught some wifi while downtown at a music show this past weekend. It’s also a good movie player, I find the size is comfortable if not a bit too small but I accept that in the sized device.

If you want a solid, high capacity, well organized music device, go for the 6thG “traditional” iPods with screens. I used to own a 2nd or 3rdG black and white 40GB one and it was glorious, perfect for its duty.

If you just want to listen to your tunes with no care what order, go for a shuffle, maybe one of the new ones with zero screen. It’s so cheap. I had a 4GB Nano and it sufficed, but the capacity was just so small that I didn’t really enjoy it a lot.

As for price, unless you intend to buy one second hand, there is no point looking around for a deal – Apple sets their prices rigidly and they very rarely are discounted. I have used the educational discount (and have gotten local shops to price match to it, so I get the product in hand that day for less $$) successfully to buy many iPods. I also saw some slight discounts at Costco, but no more than $15 or $20. Personally I always buy my iPods new because I don’t care to take the risk or effort of buying a used one, plus I enjoy opening it from the box (opening the iPod Touch was a real fun experience, such unique packaging!).

I’d also consider how you’re using it. Is it for working out? Then you’d probably want to go with a Shuffle or Nano. They’re both very small and lightweight. The new Shuffle also let’s you make playlists so you have more control.

The Classic is great, but it is the last iPod with a hard drive rather than flash based memory. This means it can hold a lot more music but definitely don’t go jogging with it. Or drop it a lot.

I lurve the iPod touch but if you’re a clumsy person or you just know you’re rough on your stuff i’d hesitate—the front is glass. Yes, glass.

Ultimately the right iPod depends on you. Go to www.apple.com/ipod and check em out!

If it is an option I say get an Iphone. For $200—$300 you get 8gb or 16gb. I like it far more then the itouch the 3g really is quite fast in fact I am doing this as I carpool to work. But if you want to have a light weight music player for
Jogging on the mornings get a nano… The shuffle Isnt much smaller and far less control. If you just want to have a giant archive of music to play in an Ihome go with the classic holds 10s of thousands songs and you can put movies on it great for long trips

depends on what you are looking for. I would recommend the iPod touch. They are pretty decently priced and you can do alot of things on them. If you want an iPod solely for music then you should probably go with a shuffle or a nano.
