How do I go about winterizing my windows?

Asked by breedmitch (12171points) November 8th, 2007

I have very old casement windows which rattle in the wind. Replacing them is not an option at this point. I’d like to put up that plastic sheeting but do I need to cut wood and frame it out? Any jellyfish know how to winterize my cold apartment. Weather stripping is right out.

I don’t know much about plastic sheeting…what about lined drapes that you can draw closed. Or caulking to stop the rattling.

Last winter my daughter put up that plastic sheeting—stuck it right on the inside frame & blow-dried it—It’s still there for this winter, & worked pretty good
