Does anyone have any interesting "mechanical" observations?

I’m doing a semester long project with the theme “mechanical.” No matter how you define it, where do you see mechanical in your everyday life?

With the weight machines at the gym.

My toothbrush.
My wine bottle opener.
The antique clock on my wall
The coffee maker and toaster.
Car
Gas pump
Garbage disposal
Hydroponic garden
Vacuum
Trash compactor
Skill saw, jig saw
Belt sander

All used in last 24 hours.

Automatic garage door; slow cooker (which I hate and use only for oatmeal,)Krups coffee bean grinder in which I grind flax seeds.

Piezoelectric devices. They are usually not visible but you use them every day.
microwave oven alarm
focusing mechanism on digital camera
gas grill starter
alarm sensor
engine oil viscocity sensor
vibration sensor on your washing machine
internal computer speaker
