To the unemployed, what do you do with all of your time?

Asked by Triiiple (1356points) April 13th, 2009

Hobbies?

If i dont have class on certain days (like MWF for this semester) or HW to catch up on i end up sitting here on Fluther with my Xbox 360 on trying to figure out what to do.

What are people doing to fill their time?

I’m unemployed. Probably going into rehab for alcohol abuse soon. I just need to be locked in a room for a few months.

It will fuck up school. I will live.

If you aren’t looking for a job right now, then turn your energy to community service.

Find a cause that means a lot to you (animals, the environment, kids, etc.), and find ways to donate your time. Not only will it make you feel good, earn you some mega karma points, and do good for others, BUT you can also add this to your resume and/or grad school applications.

Need letters of recommendation down the road? I bet your supervisors/coworkers at the community project would write you a sterling one!

Ive been looking for jobs as well but sometimes seems like its a search that wont pay off. Besides driving to NYC for the summer why get a job for a few months.

I asked the question because i know a few unemployed people who are taking this time to return to school and doing other things.

When i was out of work for 5 months for my accident I spent the better part of my time watching whole series of shows like every episode of Rockos modern life or stuff like that. Hell yea nostalgia!

Zim, Rocko, Doug, Batman and Superman TAS, JLU, anime, Pete & Pete, old Adult Swim stuff. A lot of dog-walking and biking. Customizing my jailbroken iPhone. Pandora and Fluther. Playing with cats. Shopping on the internet for things I can’t afford. On days of unusual motivation, cleaning my apartment, reading philosophy, revising essays, fighting to set up my scanner/printer, looking for a job.
