Have you ever been hypnotized? What was it like?

Asked by Dansedescygnes (2881points) April 15th, 2009

So I finally decided to be hypnotized today at school. I’ve had several opportunities (I’m in psychology) but I was too afraid to do it, but finally I decided to do it even though I was hella nervous.

It was interesting, it was kind of like having been asleep; when I “woke up” it was like a missing gap of time and I vaguely remembered some of the stuff I had done like picking up my shoe and answering it like a telephone, but most of it was forgotten. My friends said I was hilarious.

My other friend who was hypnotized was really deeply entranced and he didn’t remember anything that happened and was kind of sleepy after he snapped out of it.

For some reason, I can’t remember.

No, but I witnessed about 20 of my classmates hypnotized at once at our HS grad party. It was hilarious.

Is it really true that you can hypnotize people to do whatever stuff you want them to do and believe whatever you tell them?

They say you can’t make people do things they don’t want to do. I find it hard to believe that someone can make you believe a shoe is a telephone, but it seems you did. I don’t know. I guess I will have to try it and see.

Maybe the hypnotized trance is the same as when people sleepwalk. Induced sleepwalking then. People do weird things when they sleepwalk and don’t remember it. I guess it might be so.

I have seen two of my best friends who are no way gay, be hypnotised into thinking they were on a hot boat so they had to take their shirts off and then the next minute they were in the artic circle literally spooning for warmth. it was the perfect time to take pictures. when they woke up they had no idea why they had their shirts off… but i showed them soon after we were back in our hotel room.

@oratio

Yeah, I wasn’t sure it would either, but like I said, it was kind of like I had just had a dream or something and I could remember parts of it. In a way it was a lot like sleepwalking.

Yes,I have.It’s almost as if your in a dream state.Although my eyes were closed,I felt as if they were open the whole time.Like I needed to blink,but couldn’t.It was hard to open my eyes again and after I did,I felt strange.
