How would you interpret the movie "Pleasantville" in relation to its philosophical or political content?

It’s an excellent movie. It’s the imperfection of our world that makes it worth living. A philosophically related movie would be Gattaca.

Actually, Wikipedia seems to have it all laid out in the Themes section.

Nonetheless, it is an excellent movie.

I’d have to watch it again to be sure (it’s been 10 years or so), but I think it’s sort of the “ignorance is bliss” philosophy. If you don’t acknowledge life’s flaws and dynamics, you’re quite comfortable, but also very dull, two dimensional, and unfulfilled.
