Retrieve accidentally deleted text message thread?

I accidentally deleted a text message thread on my iPhone from my son which I need for legal reasons. Is there anyway to recover this? I synced my phone with my computer recently before my finger slipped.

My condolences. Unless it says “restore deleted” you no longer have any options.

FYI for the future take a snapshot of important screens.
(this can be done by pressing the top button and the home button at the same time. The image will be saved to your photo roll.)
