How much of a difference would losing 15 pounds make?

Asked by ItsxJess (36points) July 19th, 2009

How much of a difference on physical appearance would a loss of 15 pounds make on a fifteen year old, not athletic, 5ft tall girl with a small frame weighing 120 pounds?

This isn’t me, by the way. I’m just asking.

What kind of difference? Physically? Emotionally?

120 on a 5 ft frame isn’t bad. 105 might be better. It depends on what your friend wants from herself. Age doesn’t really matter here.

If it’s what she want because it will make her feel better, then she should go about it the correct way by dieting and exercising. She should NOT do that thing the idiots do (sticking their fingers in their mouths to force food back out).

too much. you’re fine at 120. try just toning up a bit.

Can you do me a favor and give me those 15 pounds, I need to put on some weight.

15lbs can be close to a full size, depending on the person; however, it sounds like maybe just some exercise and toning might be better than just losing the weight.

I am 5’ and I feel great, lean and mean at around 110, but I am athletic. If no muscle then 105 would probably be good. 120 at 5’ puts you at the very top end of acceptable bmi and it doesn’t get easier to lose weight as you get older, I would try to get rid of it while still young and growing.

i’m 5’2 and 145. but my build is was athletic 120 at 5’ seems normal to me..

Numbers for weight don’t mean much. If you workout a lot you can be the same size a someone who doesn’t and still weigh more. Muscle weighs more than fat. I felt bad and heavy at 190 but after working out and eating right I feel better now at 195. I now have more muscle and less body fat. I’m also 6’2”.

Probably not necessary. Do not listen to the spin doctors espousing thinness as the ultimate..they all have an agenda. Be sensible, exercise, eat well, do not take any pills that you don’t need, and keep your mind active, and your attitude positive. This will make you healthy. 100% guaranteed. A few extra pounds are not the end of the world.

I’ve lost over 15 pounds this summer alone! :) I feel awesome. However, I needed to lose weight. You don’t sound like you need to.

If you really want to lose weight…do this.
Reduce the number of calories you take in and burn more calories.
Talk to your doctor and make sure you eat enough. Don’t loss muscle mass. Take a vitamin everyday.

and stay away from pills. I can’t stress that enough.
