I have been having this dream since I was 19, what do you think it means?

Asked by brinibear (1388points) August 15th, 2009

I have been having a dream since I was 19, and I can’t tell where i am, but there is a huge crowd of people surrounding me,with cameras, and microphones, and I am holding a little girl, who looks like she is 2 or 3 yrs. old. During this dream, I am answering crowds questions. If I can remember correctly, somebody asks me my age, and I tell them that “I’m 24.” now that is a year and a half from now, and I don’t know what to think.

Are you in the entertainment business or in some other way famous in real life? Do you feel in this dream that the child you are holding is yours? Could you have possibly rescued/saved this child?

brinibear's avatar

I honestly don’t know. I currently am not in the entertainment bussiness, but i hope to be one day. And I honestly don’t know if this child is mine. She could be, but anything is possible.

It is an interesting dream. Does the crowd seem hostile or happy for you?

happy, it’s weird

The logical interpretation of the dream would be that you saved the girl somehow. Some might think this means that next year you will save a girl, but I’m not a believer in psychic phenomena, I tend to think that at some point before you first had the dream you read or saw something on TV about someone a few years older than you saving a little girl, could have been something as simple as a firefighter rescuing a girl trapped in a burning building, and perhaps it stuck with you, your mind thought about what a great feeling that would be or something. Of course, I’m no Freud…could mean you have a thang for your mother. :)

When I first started getting the dream, I didn’t read the newspaper, use the computer, of watch TV, I was in job corps, and there was so much more stuff to do.

You’re not Britney spears or any celebrity you think you would be like when you grow up. Do you want to become rich or anything like that? The little girl maybe a relative of yours?

The little girl may represent you. And perhaps you are seeking approval from someone or some people in general.

But what the hell do I know?

brinibear's avatar

@tb1570 Well, anything is possible. I usually do look for the approval of others, even though I shouldn’t.

All your dream characters are you.

I guess that all you have to do is wait and see. Maybe you are meant to save that little girl a year and a half from now. Keep your eyes open for this when the time comes. I’ve often dreamt of the future, though not that far ahead, and it’s usually minor things that I can’t control much (I recently dreamt of being in a police station, and a few days later I was stopped with my car and had to go to the exact police station from my dream, with the exact same cops, to sort out some paperwork).
Perhaps your whole purpose in life is to be that hero, to save that little girl. And this is why you can already see it in the dream, because it is so powerful that it resonates even back to the past. Keep us posted when it happens, this sounds interesting.

(and it could of course also become a self-fulfilling prophecy)

@chyna I’m in the entertainment business and don’t recall ever seeing a dream with crowds. Because ever since I became a singer, dealing with crowds has become part of my job (in the same way a secretary might dream of a computer screen). But I did see dreams like that before I became a professional singer, eg when I was a teenager and “dreamed” (both literally and metaphorically) of becoming one.

“To dream that you are in or part of a crowd, signifies that you need to make some space for yourself. You need solitude to reflect on a situation at hand and recharge your energy. Consider also the familiar phrase of ‘going along with the crowd’ which implies conformity and lack of individuality.

To see an unruly crowd in your dream, signifies that the worries and problems around you are pressing in on you. You will be be greatly distressed.

To see a happy, orderly crowd in your dream, denotes assured happiness, pleasant friends and opportunities for advancement.”

Have you noticed any correlation between what you have to eat or drink prior to the dream?

brinibear's avatar

@dindinbaby I honestly have no idea. We’re talking three years of having the same dream periodically. I have heard that food can mess with your dreams, but I always thought that they were usually nightmares. I’m not afraid in this one.

brinibear's avatar

@mattbrowne The crowd doesn’t seem totally unruly, but I’m not exactly sure what they want.

tramnineteen's avatar

I wouldn’t make anything of it. If something in real life ever seems connected to the dream in an obvious way you will get your answer. Until that happens I would simply ignore it.

I believe you are the little girl. She represents you and your need to be secure/safe/protected. Usually the crowd signifies a fear of exposure. Maybe you say you are 24 because you don’t feel worthy because of your feelings about your youth…...There is only ever going to be one you. And you are perfect. much love.;-)
