How can I de-zoom my computer screen?

Asked by Ailia (1363points) August 26th, 2009

I don’t know how I did it; I’m not that skilled in computers. And I would like to change the size back to normal any advice? I think I just need to press a couple of keys but I don’t know which ones. Oh and I don’t have a mac by the way.

Maybe it’s a program that’s causing this, like magnifier. If so, close the program.

What exactly do you mean by zoomed? Is your entire desktop visible? Or just a piece of it?

Until more details come up…could you have changed your resolution?

On a computer running windows, right click on the desktop and click “properties”, then “settings” (for Vista, “personalize”, then “display settings”) . Move the slider to the right and click apply to try it out until it looks alright for you.

Well its only internet explorer thats doing this, and I don’t think its the resolution, just the page size.

Not sure if this works in Internet Explorer, but try holding ctrl while scrolling your mouse button. In firefox and Chrome ctrl + 0 resets the zooming.

Just adding to what @markyy said, Ctrl 0 does work in IE (at least, IE8). You can also increase or decrease 1 size at a time by doing Ctrl - or Ctrl +.

I have Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium and there is a sizing button on the bottom of the open window pane with a magnifying glass icon with either a plus or a minus sign in it. If yours has one, you may have hit that by accident.

In Internet Explorer 8, click on “Page” on the Command Bar, then “Zoom”, and then “100%”.
I don’t know if this will work with earlier versions of IE.
