Have you considered London as a holiday destination?

Asked by unit (311points) August 28th, 2009

Most people like a beach style holiday, but would you consider London for a place to have a vacation. Great History, fantastic buildings and of course a pint of real Ale.

I often go to London for a “holiday” actually it’s more like a mini-break as it’s one of my favourite cities to visit. I would much rather see a show in the West End than sit on a beach anyway :)

Absolutely.

Yes! It’s my dream destination… if only someone else would pay for it!

London is a great vacation destination. It is cooler and more comfortable than most US cities in the summer. It has a great theater district, plus lots of local bands in pubs. The British Museum. And, the tube is a fantastic way to travel; wait two minutes, catch the train, five minutes later pop up in another part of the city.

We have enjoyed our visits very much.

I would! In fact I just booked a private apartment in London on iStopOver for October. I’m pretty pumped – so far I’ve only been to Italy in Europe.

London is great for all sorts of things. You can do everything there. It’s one of the biggest cities in the world, but at the same time there are nice parks where you can enjoy some nature, and wonderful places nearby to visit.

The only problem, as others have suggested, is that it’s extremely expensive. If money were not an issue, I’d definitely recommend it. But you could probably spend a whole week in the best hotel in Tunisia or Thailand for the amount of money it takes to enter Madam Tissaud’s (and you wouldn’t have to wait 2 hours in the rain to enter the hotel).
