Do we have any drag artists on Fluther?

Asked by OpryLeigh (25305points) September 17th, 2009

If so what are your experiences as a drag artist? Are you or have you been a regular entertainer when it comes to drag? What is your alter ego name? How did you start as a drag artist? Have you experienced much prejudice? Any beauty tips?

If you’re not a drag artist do you know anyone (on a personal basis) who is a regular drag artist? What are your experiences with drag artists?

I crossed dressed to an extent as a kid in the Atlanta kink clubs.

The biggest piece of advice I could give others is about being honest with yourself as to when you’ve gotten to old to pull it off.

Yesterday my girlfriend told me that her father told her mother that he is sure that i am gay (and he is now concerned about his daughter’s future).
He saw a picture of me on my girlfriend’s computer (she has some photo’s of me as a screensaver).
Last year, when i was with her in Greece, after i took a shower i put on a bra of my girlfriend, just for a laugh from my girlfriend.
She took a picture of it.
Now i’m gay.

@Noel_S_Leitmotiv: Interesting! I’ve talked to quite a few drag queens in their 40s, maybe even 50s, and (maybe I have no “eye”) but I thought some of them were wonderful, really fantastic. Why does there have to be an age limit?

To answer the question, I don’t personally know any drag “artists” that well, but I do have quite a few friends who do it once or twice a year for a GLBT charity I support. They put on a big event with professionals as well as the amateurs I mentioned. I can’t even describe how much fun it is. It’s absolutely one of my favorite things, so my experiences with drag artists have all been positive. I love drag kings and queens, I couldn’t think of a more appropriate title!

@La_chica_gomela I agree, all the drag queens I know are all older and they are FABULOUS!

I love that this certain user is constantly the first to answer and yet usually provided the least amount of help.

He’s probably addicted to hearing himself talk. (not that that makes what he says invalid).

My dog drags her ass across the carpet and makes art. Does that count as a drag artist?

I like Adam Lambert, does that count?
