What does this error mean?

Asked by Ashalah (402points) September 27th, 2009

I keep trying to go to joann.com to buy some things, and I keep getting this message:

Below is the original error message

Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.

I have restarted my computer, I have tried to open it in different tabs. I know the websites good cause I can open it on my other computer. Any suggestions on how to fix this??

And I have a windows computer and I use Google Chrome!

Try a different browser, or maybe their server’s just having issues at the moment.

Some sites work only with Internet Explorer. I don’t know why, but they do.

Unfortunately @Syger & @Jeruba couldn’t be more close to the correct answer. Usually problems with, buttons that don’t click, failing loaded pages and ect.. are due to not using the correct browser. It often bothers me when I stumble upon a page that requires you use IE. I hate IE (internet explorer). Try IE or don’t buy from there, lol.

I have no problems viewing that page in chrome. Tested the shopping cart and all. No problems for that browser. Your problem seems to be something else. Reinstall?

That looks like a server error to me. Would be unrelated to what browser you are using.

@StellarAirman I thought so too, but she said that she accessed the page in her other computer at the time with no problems. I don’t know.

It opens OK in FireFox, so it isn’t a browser thing. Connection resets happen when a server is too busy or when there are problems between you and the server, as in your own local network. Do you have a wireless router? Might be dropping your connection.

Maybe it’s one of those spiffy sites that reads IP’s and won’t let her other computer on. Lol, highly doubtful for a fabric site.

It means that their web server admins didn’t test the site enough, or didn’t catch that bug.

Use the website from your other computer, or buy from a site with competent web server admins.
