What do you think about the movie "Pandorum"? (Spoiler alert)

Asked by KatawaGrey (21483points) October 4th, 2009

I just saw the movie “Pandorum” and I was pleasantly surprised. When I told my mother that I was going to see it, she said it looked like Alien, only stupid, which pretty much summed up my ideas about it. However, when I saw it, I soon realized that it was actually a pretty well thought out film. I’ll admit that the whole “pandorum” thing confused me for a little while until the end when it was really meant to be an amalgam of different symptoms plus I wanted to say “amalgam” of insanity.

I do think the movie would have been much worse if the ending had been different. what does the collective think?

Sorry – I haven’t seen it, but the summary does make it sound a lot like Alien but without Sigourney Weaver.

@Darwin: That’s what I thought too. I didn’t want to give too much away so my description is pretty vague. It’s pretty different from Alien. I think you should see it, if for no other reason than to come back and answer my question! :)

It was nerve rattling. I didn’t really understand what the beasts were. I guess I missed some key points. I liked the ending. Too bad about the plant ark, but I imagine the salvaged it later.

@oratio: I think the beasts were humans who had mutated in hypersleep. I agree that it was rattling which is why I think the ending made the movie. If they had all died horribly ir it had turned out that they were going to turn into those things, it would have been weird and bad.

(SPOILER ALERT) i know its been out for a while but if u haven’t seen it and don’t wanna know…. But as i was saying, the mutants came about because of the drug that encourages mutations for survival in a new a different enviroment. they were released because of dennis quaid’s character trying to play god. on what was his own city considering he killed the flight crew of the ship. (the earth blew up and quaid wanted to start a new world on the actual ship.) the ship had landed on the planet 23 years before this movie took place. that’s not to say the mutants weren’t out of there pods long before.
