When to call: I've submitted a piece of artwork to a gallery via e-mail, when would it be appropiate for me to call and see if they are considering the piece?

Asked by gottamakeart (1323points) October 12th, 2009

it hasn’t been a whole week yet (as of this writing) but I’m getting anxious and would like to know if I’m going to get some exposure for my artwork. Haven’t had anything in a gallery for about 2 years.

1st…..... did you submit it ‘out of the blue’ ? ......... if so , it is perhaps not inappropriate for them to not respond at all…...

…. were you following all instructions on their website to the letter ?? . ... if so then there should have been at least…. ‘don’t contact us , ... we’ll contact you’ -type-of-instruction ...............

You’ll get a letter soon.

You could always send another email and ask politely if they recieved it. That way you won’t be pressuring them for a critique, but they may include it in their response.

update: the gallery e-mailed me back, they like my artwork and will keep contact with me for future shows. The one they were trying to set up isn’t happeneing because they didn’t receive enough submissions. :)
