What is this device used in Star Wars?

Asked by intro24 (1434points) October 19th, 2009

This randomly popped up in my head and I can’t find out what it’s actually called and it’s annoying me that I can’t remember. I’m not even a huge fan of Star Wars but it’s getting on my nerves. It’s the ring structure that the Jedi have docked in space. They use them with smaller spacecraft that can’t go to light speed on their own or something like that. Obi-Wan uses one in Episode III. Anybody know? Thanks in advanced.

Here’s the only picture I was able to find off of Google Images but it doesn’t say what it’s called I don’t think:

“Hyperdrive” is how they referred to their faster-than-light technology in that series.

It’s just a portable version for small fighters.

It’s a Jedi Starfighter with a Hyperdrive Booster Ring

Oh wow I feel a little bit stupid. That’s obvious now that you say it, Thanks and lurve to both of you. This question’s pretty much wrapped up with just those two responses.

You can even buy one well, a model of one from Amazon

Yeah, it gives the smaller less powerful ships the ability to go into light speed. It also is detachable so it doesn’t cumber the vehicle down.
