Does anyone know how to display a vinyl album collection?

Asked by jaketheripper (2779points) October 30th, 2009

I’m wondering if there are any good ways to display your vinyl albums in such a way that they are still accessible for playing. I found this which is awesome but they are $60 a piece which is a little too pricey.

I can’t find anything with easy access. The only thing that I did find (and, I’m sure you did, too) were frames that you can put up on the wall, but, the albums/frames are hung up for show—not easily accessible—you’ve gotta take them out of the frame.

Album frame

(a good price, though).

Try a shadow box?

How many albums? Do you need an air-tight container? If not, then a picture rail would work. It’s a shallow shelf with a groove running down the middle of it. Set the album up and let it naturally lean back- voila record display.

@jaketheripper the ones that posted are pricey, but, they’re awesome!

@jaketheripper Bookmarked that page, they are quite pricey but I might get a few for when I get my music studio set up

I have the same problem with my laserdiscs. I have a rack to store them upright and vertical.
If that makes sense.

Those art vinyl’s are pretty cool.

have you seen those clear plastic clips with the screw in the middle that are normally used to hold mirrors on a wall or back of a door? well, you could take 4 for each album- 2 for the bottom ,one for each side, and set the albums up in a grid pattern on the wall. they should slide up and out of each individual set-up and then back down in again. it will probably be a 2 person project, because you’ll need a level (laser ones are best) and have to make some pencil marks for where to put the screws. But once you do one- the rest should be easy. :)

You can cheaply freely make a wall unit of crates. Just tie them together and bolt them to the wall. Mix and match colors to show you care about aesthetics.

I have scanned my favorite ones and covered the print-out with clear contact paper. They can safely be taped, stapled, or hung on strings with clothespins.
