Adding people to my mafia in Mafia Wars on Facebook?

Asked by mathwhiz1 (264points) November 19th, 2009

I became a fan of Mafia Wars earlier today. Then, I got a friend request from somebody and they put “Mafia Wars” in the message. The problem is that I have no idea who this person is. So, is there a way to add this person to my mafia without this person being one of my friends on Facebook? I don’t want this person to be able to see what is on my wall and that kind of stuff. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

It’s mafiawars spam.
If you do not know them, do not add them. It’s just a game.

I have like 575 people in my mafia, and probably a good 525 of them aren’t really my friends.

After you add someone to your mafia, they will never leave your mafia, even after removing them from your friends list on facebook.

What I did was joined a group, got a gigantic list of people’s email addresses, added them and put in the message “mafia wars”. A few days later, I have about 500 more friends, and after about 2 weeks or so, I’ve slowly added them to my mafia (you can only add like 20 per day).

After they are now apart of my mafia, I go to friends recently added, and remove each and every person.

After all that is done, you have the same friends that you use to, but now your mafia is huuge….I’m like level 470.

You cannot add people to your Mafia without being Facebook Friends. However, if you friend them, add them to your Mafia, and then defriend them, they stay in your mafia – until one or the other of you opts to “remove non-friends from your Mafia.”

I’ve also heard that there are ways to post things to your wall and have your “real” friends see it, but not your Mafia-friends, by making a separate Mafia Wars group. I haven’t tried this, though. I think it’s under Settings—> Privacy—> Profile—> Status and Links. Customize—> “Except these people”—> and then enter the name of the group you assigned all your fake Mafia Wars “friends” into.

Personally, I’d rather keep friends with Mafia people. That way you get more help on your jobs, and you can help on their jobs, for experience and stuff. I clean out my non-friends regularly because I’m sick of seeing “So and so needs help on a job” and then clicking and seeing “You can’t help people who are not your friends.” But if that isn’t too important to you and you just want to build up your Mafia number, add and delete is the way to go.
